"Hunter's Horn," by Harriette Arnow (Macmillan, is an excellent regional novel that should be one of the most popular books of the Summer. The author's people are poor rural folk of Kentucky. They barely have enough to eat and wear, yet you do not feel sorry for them.

They are concerned most with raising a hound that will be able to track down a red fox called "King Devil" that seems to bear a charmed life. The manner in which this is accomplished makes a fascinating story that has as much suspense as a good mystery. Birthday Party Mr. and Mrs. George A.

Still, you have a nagging feeling in the back of your head that if you were not in all the goings on of the crowd, you wouldn't be missed. Maybe a get-together or two lately hasn't included you, so you sat at home and brooded about it, getting more convinced by the minute that you're about to up in a hermit's your day comes only hope for the lonely session long look from You're not alone body hits a slump going to get out social circle by and settling down. popular and as much in be? You're not a dead even though no Hollymistake you for Miss you wind Nancy Mottram cave. And the worst part of when nobody phones, and your evening is a solitary movie or with a dull book. But wipe that your face and pull up a chair.

and you're not hopeless. Everynow and then, and you're not of it and start shining in your creeping to the nearest corner Marriage Licenses LOOK AROUND YOU. There are very, very few lasses, and lads too, for that matter, who make every party and have a choice of several places to go and things to do every night in the week. But those who do pull down blue ribbons in the popularity contests are those who give, not just take. You can't expect everyone else to drag your share, so if you're out to snag a lot of attention for yourself, put forth some effort.

Get in the center of things, don't just mosey around on the edges of the plans and suggestions that your gang makes to keep on the go. Your ideas are good, and maybe better than some of the others, but who's going to know it if you don't let your voice be heard? It's the fellows and girls with the imagination and the vim and vitality to put brainstorms into practice who rally the rest. Co-operation is another key, and if you open your house to the gang once in a while, and get together with the other girls to plan swimming parties and picnics, you'll find that you'll be right there in the thick of things before you know it. THAT'S YOUR CUE, so follow up on it. Meet them on their own ground, and be willing to lend an ear to their plots and plans at the same time.

Remember that friendliness to everybody, not just to a chosen few, can work wonders in dates, and make you an all-around gal. You've got the ability. Make the most of it and you'll be glad you did. Miss Mottram wants to help with your problems. Write her in care of the Brooklyn Eagle.

Consequently they can "put something" over on you without half trying. Kind and sympathetic to the troubles of others, you are always ready to help. Learn to 'safeguard your resources a little more or you may end up as the one asking for financial help at some time in your life.

Be provident albeit generous. Your emotions are very near the top and you have the so-called artistic temperament which goes with the ability for creative work. You have a strong imagination and must learn to use it constructively rather than let it run away with you. There is a deeply spiritual side to your nature, as well, and if so trained in youth you might wish to enter the service of the church. If not, part of your life and interests will be spent in helping others.

To find what the stars have in store for tomorrow, select your birthday star and read the corresponding paragraph. Let your birthday star be your daily guide.
