Baer LovetLorski, sculptor. Others on the France were Miss Sugar Marcelle, actress; Prof. Fernand Baldensperger and Jules Henry, first secretary of the French Embassy at Scotto Brings Idea Capt. Georges Burosse of the France, said that, with the exception of one voyage in 1930, the crossing was the worst he had experienced. Stewards and sailors reported having been made seasick for the first time in their career by the mountainous waves.

Rope rails were erected along the promenade deck during the worst weather, the captain said, to prevent persons who ventured out being hurled against bulkheads. Scotto brought plans for producing grand opera through sound motion pictures. Hits Present Opera Scotto voiced scorn for the present opera, saying American companies make no real eort to support the craving of the eye as well as the ear. "At the Metropolitan Opera House," he said, "backgrounds and scenery are used that long fallen into disuse. Choruses are made up of portly men, displeasing to the eye, with women who should be retired as grandmothers.

The principle advocated by Scotto is based on centralization of the orchestra in the middle of a moving picture stage so sound goes upward into a special dome and is deflected back into the stage area, giving uniformity to loud and soft passages.
