Tourney Schenectady H. S. Wins Team Honors for the Sixth Consecutive Time The hills -and dales of the two-and-a-half-mile crosscountry layout at Van Cortlandt Park held no terrors for Edward Weille, Newtown's champion harrier, yesterday. Nick Howlett's ace led the large parade that turned out for the sixth annual Manhattan College Interscholastic cross run, hich was naturally won by the Schenectady High School runners for the sixth consecutive year. Weille ran one of the headiest races of his athletic career, planning his sprint at th right time and successfully fighting off the persistent challenge made by Tom Russell, ond; Roiinsky, Lew Wallace, third.

In the first half neither teams was able to advance near the scoring line, but immediately after the intermission Arthur Hansen intercepted a pass from Feiner of Brooklyn Evening on his own 40-yard line and ran 60 yards for a touchdown. N. Y. Triple Passing Offensive City College considerably boosted its metropolitan collegiate gridiron stock yesterday at the Lewisohn Stadium by decisively drubbing a strong Drexel eleven, 18 to 6, In what was probably the closest and best-played fracas staged at the St. Nicholas Heights field this season. Judging by comparative scores, St.

John's College will have a tough time on its hands two weeks hence when the Lavender and the Red-men meet. The Indians nosed out Drexel, 6 to 0, a week ago, while City College scored thrice to the Quakers' sole touchdown. SCIINEER FORCED OUT In the first quarter, Harry Schneer, Coach Hal Parker's star halfback, was forced to leave the game, suffering with a dislocated wrist bone inflicted by an arduous Drexel tackle. Irv Mondschein, however, filled Schneer's place to the advantage of all concerned, except the visitors. Two touchdowns were scored by C.

C. N. Y. on triple passes, Mondschein tallying both times, i.i the first quarter on a 30-yard run around right end and in the third period on a 10-yard dash through a hole ripped for him by Mush Weiner in the Drexel line. The Quakers scored their lone touchdown in the second period.

Hughes, a miniature Albie Booth, weighing only 120 pounds, was Drexel's big threat for the afternoon, as he tossed forward passes with bullet-like precision and zigzagged through the Lavender athletes for long gains. He hurled a 40-yard pass to the expectant arms of Holt, who raced the remaining 30 yards for the marker. In the final period, Capt. Red Dubinsky intercepted a pass thrown by Bill Wright and sprinted 45 yards for the final touchdown of the day, not a single Drexel man within 10 yards of him as he crossed the line. HUGHES' PASSING GOOD Outside of Hughes' passing, the visitor's offense was shabby and uncertain.

Out of 16 passes attempted by them, four were intercepted, six completed, and a similar number incomplete. City Col Boys High, 148, Carl Seaman, Fleldston, 148, H. Lamendola, New town, 150, Perltsky, New Utrecht, 151, Delfeyette, Newtown. 152. Irving Rosenthal.

O'Neil also is unbeaten, but it dropped to third because it drew a bye a week ago.

In winning from 125 Queens, Lew Wallace captured first place In six of the seven events on the program. Only Hay, in the 50-yard swim, was able to finish ahead of a Lew Wallace swimmer. In the first quarter Carey, by dint of some brilliant line plunging and end running, carried the ball over the goal line for the first score of the game. Sutter missed the try for point after touchdown. At the start of the third quarter Montclair brought the ball all the way from their own 40-yard line to the Wagner 8-yard mark bit the Staten Islanders held and took the ball on their own 3-yaid line.

Wagner then kicked and when Montclair was held on the 50-yard line the local eleven advanced the ball to the 8-yard mark but was held for downs. Montclair punted but the wind carried the ball back over the defending team's goal line and Montclair recovered the pigskin for a safety. Towards the end of the last quarter Wagner managed to push the Teachers eleven back to the 2-yard line and on a fumble Sutter recovered the ball for a touchdown. Lewis Smith led hame the winning upstate team, taking third, about 30 yards behind the two leader. A lew steps behind him was Mike Eisenfeld, the cocky Boys' High captain, who beat out Ed Hagelberg, a worthy successor to Dave Twomey, former Erasmus star. SCHENECTADY SHOWS GREA TTEA MFORM After that the runners streaked In, but Schenectady, showing its nsual team serength, got over its team among the first 15 finishers to tally 48 points. The Providence school, displaying more strength than last year, placed second, with 17 points. The real disappointment of the day for local schools was the poor showing of Curtis, city team champion, which took third, with 119 points.

None of the best Staten Island runners figured in the race. When the starter's gun turned the pack loose, John Didie of St. James shot out to the front and led until the railroad trestle was reached. Running right with him was Russell, Ray Kelly, Providence; John Gresser, Jamaica, and then Weille, striding along smoothly. Going along the parkway, Didie managed to hold his lead, but Russell was slowly gaining on him, and as the field started to tackle the gruelling hill, Weille forged his way to the front, running abreast with Russell.

RUSSELL'S THREAT SPURRED WEILLE TO VICTORY The hill killed Didie, who finished 56h, but when the runners started to leave the woodland hill, Waille arid Russell were neck and neck. Smith was about 25 yards behind this pair, bringing with him Eisen-teld, Gil Schiller, Schenectady, and It was along here that Russell was heard to have told Weille, "I'll get you when we get to the stretch." Striding along the sandy bridle path, the two boys kept their positions abreast of each other, but afcout 400 yards from the finish, Weille started to step faster. Russell responded, but his breathing was ragged and his legs a trifle wobblv. Weille slowlv went ahead nrt hnnnrllner th rurf oainpri yards as the finish neared The summaries: 1.. Edward Weille.

U. Time of quarters 12 minutes. New Utrecht's Aptness Beats Bonavita Intercepts For ward, While Wind Aids Other Score An Intercepted forward pass and a gust of wind decided the fate of Bushwlck at Erasmus Field yesterday afternoon when the New Utrecht eleven was triumphant, 13 to 0. Otherwise the game was a fairly even encounter, with the Orange and Black even having a slight edge in the matter of ground gaining. Bushwick used a varsity of attack to come within striking distance several times in th eearly part of the game.

But each time the Green and white line threw up a desper ate defense that held Bushwick at bay. The first score of the fray came near the start of the second quarter when a Bushwick pass settled Into the arms of Emll Bona vito. New Utrecht fullback. He ran about 25 yards to cross the line for a touchdown. The extra point was gained when Picker rushed the ball over.

Near the end of thes ame period New Utrecht marched the ball down the field to the Bushwick two-yard line. Here the Orange and Black line held on the fourth down. Bushwick attempted to kick out of danger, but the ball curling up into the strong wind, was wafted back over the goal line. It came down, bounced once or twice, and was grabbed by Danny Delvecchio of New Utrecht, who touched it down for the second touchdown. An at tempted rush failed to make the extra point.

The game was very hard fought, with several minor injuries occurring, and William Slmnowitz, left guard of New Utrecht, had to be carried off the field. His leg was injured. Bonavite played a strong game, getting off many successful passes, Delvecchio was very active as a secondary defense, and Conti and Cleary carried the brunt of the ground gaining for the winners.
