Republic's orders have turned upward in the last few days with no strong demand for any single product but a diversified Rrtin which is hiRhly encouraging and may benefit schedules still more before the Christmas holiday.

Nine or more of the company's 23 open hearths in the district are likely to be meltinn next week, against elsht currently. A blast furnace which resumed melting this week may continue operating, giving the company three stacks active of its five in this district. Republic's tin mill at Warren probably will operate most of the week at capacity, while its Niles sheet plant will operate six or eight mills. Some of the Warren sheet mills may operate and three or four of the eight open hearths at that plant will continue in production with one blast furnace. The company's pipe sales department Is showing moderate increases In business.

Republics estimated district operating rate of 35 percent next week compares with lfl percent in the like week of 1032, 32 percent two years ajro and 35 percent three vears ago.
