Dec. 28 The development of the English drama from its earliest phases up to the present day is being studied and discussed this year by the Women's Study Club, a group of 30 Patchog.ie women who meet on alternate Mondays of each month.

Each year the club takes up a certain line and traces it from its beginnings to the present. The program in general usually is made up in three parts, an article by one of the members the reading of selections dealing with the topic of that particular day followed by other readings or a discusion of current books and Jorie Riley, Virginia Savage, Betty Sayer, Mary Twining, Jane Sargent, Wilhelmina Schasty, Louise Trous Ward Ackerson of Brightwaters, Bay Shore, L. Dec. 28 More than 150 children and their mothers of Bay Shore, the Islips, Great River and vicinity were the guests of the South Shore Woman's Club at a Christmas party in the Community building here this afternoon. This is an annual philanthropy lnaugu-ratd by the woman's club several years ago.

Mrs. Frank Ackerman of Bay Shore enacted the role of Santa Claus this afternoon did it most realistically. Mrs. Amy King Frieman of Bay Shore had charge of the program, a feature of which was a motion picture, "The Night Before Christmas." Mrs. E.

R. Hildreth of Bay Shore, -head of the Daily dale, Jacqueline Tomoerl Ethel- center of attraction and the children gathered around it and sang a number of Christmas carols under MrsFrieman's leadership. Gifts of toys, candy, fruit and nuts were distributed by Santa to the small guests, and ice cream was served as a gift from the Girl Scouts. The.e were shoes, rubbers and warm clothing for a number of tots who needed them. Some of the clothing was donated and more was purchased with the club's Christmas shoe and stocking fund, which it has been raising Mth considerable success for the past few weeks.

The Patchogue Sorosis, a woman's club made up of a large number of women from Patchogue and vicinity, meets each Wednesday in the large new clubrooms in the Conklin Butldlntr, on Main st. The Sorosis has probably the finest suit of rooms in the county and their meetings are both of a social and' educational nature.

Two members act as hostesses at each meeting and at recular intervals the usual social nature of the program is varied by an address or a special presentation. At present the club is not meeting during the holiday season but at the meeting on Jan. 8 Mrs. Gladys Thurston of Manhattan will speak.
