Just how they will affect our weather in the next few days will depend on how they will develop and what trend they will take. For the present, however, the map indicates that the low centered along the Canadian border will bring showers and rising temperatures to the metropolitan area tonight, while the high, which is just west of it and traveling eastward, will bring a change to cooler tomorrow.

Rains have fallen in this State and adjacent parts of surrounding States, Gulf States, upper Lake region, upper Mississippi and lower Missouri valleys, middle Rocky Mountains and south Pacific slope. Angered at the delay of the Maxwell-Gibbs Construction Company, to which the contract was awarded last November on the low bid of $3,869,000, the city at first canceled the Maxwell-Gibbs contract, but later permitted the surety companies which underwrote the bid to have Kenny Brothers complete the job. Although about four months have been lost since the award of the Maxwell-Gibbs contract, the Kenny firm said it could complete the work in 550 days from the time they took over the contract on Monday of last week. The present condition at the hospital is acute becouse of the great increase of patients.

It has been filled to capacity during the last several days, and today, while new applicants are treated, the hospital staff is having difficulty in placing patients in the wards. This condition is blamed largely on unemployment rather than on any increase in sickness in Brooklyn. Some persons, rather than face privations in their homes, prefer to convalesce at the hospital. The women's surgical wards have been particularly filled, and none can be admitted to the children's wards. There- were 1,764 patients at the hospital yesterday.
