8... BROOKLYN HEIGHTS PRESS, July 29, 1971 Mobile Recreation Vehicles Delight Heights-Hill Kids a.tef Massing: I dii with the local children. All necessary materials and equipment were pro-'vided to make pipecleaner dolls, puppets and other projects designed to challenge creative minds. The recreational director of the Arts and Crafts mobile, Frank Murphy, feels that the program, thus far has been a great success. In three days of operation, more than 370 children have used the facility.

The personnel manning each mobile center provide any necessary instruction and guidance. A tentative schedule for the remainder of the season is listed below for Cobble IH111: August 9-Baltic St. at P.S. 29-10 a.m.-l:30 p.m. Playmobile.

Llusic Review Chapins At The Gate: Solid What is perhaps most vital about the Chapins' music, aside from it pleasing sounds, is its concern for what is happening in the world. are issues ever emerging in their songs. They have been held over at the Gate through the first week in August. They are all from the Heights. Go see them if you can.

And, if you cannot, you can listen to them on their latest Epic Records release, "Workin On My Life." pins' show at the Village Gate is the exciting guitar stychomathia performed by Doug Walker and Tom Chapin, where one man throws a phrase on the guitar to the other, and is answered with a variation on the introduced theme. Phil Forbes provides an exciting beat on the drums, and blends well with the group, adding as he does an occasional note of humor. Steve Chapin, bassist, flautist, pianist, rounds out the Chapins' sound with a sweet "tenor voice. The Parks, Recreation Cultural Affairs Administration, headed by August Heck-scher, has instituted a new summer program bringing recreation to the children of New York City in the form of mobile amusement centers. The program, the first of its kind in New York, will run from July 1 through September 7, 1971.

Last Wednesday marked the first time one of these mobile centers visited the Heights. What people say is: "They're at least as good as the best a -round." An accurate statement. They've got the right componentsexcellent blending voices, blindingly dexterous instrumentality, and tvery together arangements of the songs they perform.

They are also versatile. Tom Chapin, lead singer and head of the group, can play lead guitar as well as he can rhythm. Doug Walker, a marvelous and consummate musician on lead guitar, is just as at home with electric as he is with, the mellower, softer folk tones of the acoustic guitar. A highlight of the Cha- Scnior Citizens Will See Mozart For No Cost Two hundred tickets to the "Mostly Mozart Festival" have been donated by the Brooklyn Arts and Culture Association to state assemblyman Joseph Martus-cello who has in turn handed them over to the Heights-Hill Community Council for distribution to senior citizens. Tom Schirmer, director of the Council's senior citizen program reported that five buses, leaving from several locations in Broklyn Heights and Cobble Hill, will take the citizens to and from Philharmonic Hall on Tuesday night, August 17.

All senior citizens interested in attending this free performance are urged to call Mr. Schirmer at 596-8789, or drop by at the TV lounge on the fourth floor of the Hotel St. George any afternoon between the hours of 1-4 p.m. "There is no stair-walking in Philharmonic Hall," Mr. Schirmer said.
