NEWS ALONG MAINE COAST, Society Very Busy Giving. Dinners. Events at Temple of Arts. Bar Harbor, August 3 A serious gasoline explosion "occurred Monday morning In the harbor, 'when the naphtha launch owned by William Medlicott Fleit-m arm of Brooklyn blew up, creating con siderable damage. The tank of the boat became leaky, and a good-sized store of gasoline became confined under the bottom of the tank, which exploded when the boat waa started.

Mr. Fleitmann's son and the engineer were on board at the time, but luckily escaped snrlous injury by protecting themselves with their arms and hands. Young Feltraann was severely burned about the face, while the engineer escaped unhurt. Considering the amount of gasoline on board, and their nearness to It, their escape seems little short of miraculous. The craft was partially wrecked, necessitating an overhauling of the machinery and repairing the deck.
