July 27. Delightful summer days have during the past week given the local colony of city visitors the opportunity to enjoy nature at her best, the bay being the principal attrac tion. Sailing and fishing parties galore have been held, while the evenings were given over to moonlight parties on the water. A pleasant dancing party wai had at the Smithport on Saturday evening last, about forty persons Joining- In the extended programme. A euchre is on the boards at the Smithport this evening.

Dr. Holmes of Manhattan, an old-time visitor at the Winona. Is enjoying life with his yacht Edna. The bay is full of fish nowadays, and every day good -sized catches are reported. One of the best catches was that of John A.

Fotter, J. K. Vanderveer and Clarence Vrooman, who hooked twenty fish in an hour off the Cinders. A. M.

Cordes, the crack Brooklyn fisherman, who has caught more fish In the Oreat South Bay than any other Individual with book and line In these parts, arrived at the Bay Bide on Thursday for the summer. He has engaged his "old reliable," Captain Monroe Ryder, and the sloop Rosanna for the months of August and September, Stephen Vanderveer. a former Brooklyn boy, arrived at his parents' cottage on Ocean avenue a lew uays ayo irom conieii, anu on Saturday last celebrated his 21st birthday. There are plenty of crabs in-the bay and creeks this summer, and boatmen and Day men say that the crustaceans were never better or more plentiful. Crabbing parties are a daily occurrence among the various nouses.

Miss Morrison of the Cllffton colony is rated as one of the best bowlers at the Bay ave xiue alleys. Monday Mrs, C. Plnney of Brooklyn, who is stopping at the CI iff ton, made the first high score of the season, 161, on the Cllffton alleys. A. C- James, who Is stopping at the Cliff-ton with a party of friends, caught a dozen big blueflsh off Fire Island one day this week.

Bur-denshaw entertained a party of ten at a five-o'clock lea in honor of Miss Donohue. Messrs. Muth, Lanman. Verger and Sauter hold the record for high catches of fish. Last Saturday they came home with over 300 pounds of bluehsh and weakftsh.

They are stopping at the Suuth Bay House. The prize winners at the euchre at the South Hay House last Fridav were Mrs. Frank Howson, Miss James, Mrs. Trow and Mrs. Pine.

Mrs. Pine Is rated as the crack euchre player at the South Bay House, having won three tirst prizes in succession. Mr. and Mrs. Trow are ai- among the leading euchre winners.

Thursday morning Mrs Dubois and her sister. Mrs. Frost, entertained a party if women friends aboard their boat and, later in the day, a party children. The leading tennis players at the South Bay House are the Jlathaway boys. Miss How-eon.

Mr. Pine and Mr. Trrw. There much gayety at the Hallett House this season, as usual. Hops are held eevry Wednesday and Saturday evenings, and a euchre every Tuesday evening.

The winners of last Tuesday's euchre were Miss Lillian Hingslage. Mrs. Bacon. Mrs. Link.

Mrs. Beh, Mrs. Jordan and Mr. Herrfeldt. The dance at the Inn on Monday evening was a jolly affair, and everybody had a right royal time.

FOR CHARITY7. Guests at Kiamesha to Give a Concert To-morrow nignt. KiameBha, July 27 Kiamesha Inn, opening' this summer under its new management of DIncio has fairly broken all former records ever established by" that peerless Sullivan County resort. Every room is at present occupied, and all accommodations are booked to the very end gf the summer season. As a' result, social life is meeting with a favor that the resort has never before known.

All sorts of activities are continually being instituted by the management, and there is never a lack of entertainment. An orchestra provides music for dances every evening. The great event of the season will be a cotillon on August 3. This event ia under the personal supervision of Manager Martin Birnbaum, and preparations are already being made, for the. event.

All of the prominent society sojourners of the resort are getting ready, and the dance hall will be decorated by professional artists for the occasion. It Is expected that fully 500 persons will be In attendance. On Monday evening the patrons of the house will unite in giving a concert for the benefit of a charity hospital. The event will be of unusual jnterest. owing to the fact that there Is a number', of professional artists at the hotel.

Among them are -numbered, the Messrs. Conner, two comedians of note; Mr. Schreier, Mrl Weintraub, Mr, Schorr, atfd Parnass. Philip Ot wall ha rented a cottage fn the vicinity of Kiamesha and will spnd the summer there with hla. family.

Mr. Otwell Is a prominent Manhattan Mra. Iouls Oppenhelmer of Brooklyn is spending the summer at Kiamesha 'Lake. Miss Helen Anne ley Is spending the season with friendsjK Kiamesha. Boating- if an popular as ever with, the sojourners -at Kiamesha Lake.

Among' the more promimtnt enthumtists of the sport are Mist Helen Manx and Miss Sadie Glosowlta ot Brooklyn. There was considerable discussion as tu which "Was the more expert oars woman -of the two and to settle a controversy on Wednesday afternoon the two young women agreed to row two-mile race. Joseph Gold-farb acted as clerk, of course and Mrs. Hern-stein as Judge. Tho race was close throughout and advantages swayed back and forth until near the finish.

Here both young women exerted themselves so much that neither was able to cross the finish. As soon as the enthusiasts recover they will row another race Jhls time, tiiey say, to a finish. Charles Gibbons Is spending the season at Kiamesha with her daughter. Miss Marie Gibbons. An Impromptu entertainment at the Lake View House was a diverting feature of the week that occupied the attention of the patrons on Tuesday evening.

Harry Koerner is considered one of the moat expert tennla players at Kiamesha this seak son. Mr. Koerner, who from Brooklyn, has issued an open challenge for the championship of the resort. Bowling la one of the attractive features of the Casino mt the lake. Prizes are awarded to the most expert artists.

Last week Herman Sapf, stopping at Kiamesha, was awarded the first prize. On Wednesday afternoon a matched bowling tournament was bowled between two teams of summer sojourners. The first team, captained by George Tlllford, was composed of Thomas Egan, Jacob Schwars, John Ury and Louis Trelb. The second team was composed of Isaac Green baum, T. K.

Lossing, J. Ford and 11. Schwarz, captained by Jcob Stelner. The first team won after an excTUn contest by 14 pins in the first game, 3 pins it the second game and 20 pins in the fourth game. The third game, went to the second team by 40 pins.

Mr. and Mrs. M. N. Jacobs are spending the summer at Pine Crest with their family.

Mrs. J. L. Koenig of Brooklyn Is spending the season at Kiamesha Lake. Thomas.

Dunn has purchased a cottage near the lake front and will arrive from the city with his family some time during the coming week for a summer's sojourn at that place. Stopping at the Kiamesha Inn for the summer is Harry Cooper of the Empire Quartet. With Mr. Cooper Is his brother, Bert. The Kiamesha Inn baseball team is ready for challenges from any of the neighboring aggregations and promises to give a close rub to all comers.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Levlne of Manhattan are spending the summer at Hill Farm House, near Kiamesha Lake, this summer. Hotel Cornucopia is crowded with its usual number of summer patrons and social activi ties at the houae are on the continual go. One of the notable features of the week at the Prospect was the rancy areas carnival for the children. The hall was elaborately decorated and many striking and original costumes appeared. The affair was the most successful of the season and devel oped considerable among the pa trons of. the house. Two Brooklyn girls added greatly to the success of the affair by their selections. Miss Louise Schlppers, whose singing has been one of the treats of the season, ren dered Liszt's "Lorelei" and "Ora Pro Nobis" in a manner that would do credit to professional singers. Miss Pauline Somers, the other Brook lyn girl, who shared the honors with Miss Schlppers, rendered Tostl's "Good Bye" In a very acceptable manner.

July 27 Loch Sheldrake, fairly bubbling over with Its continuous round of merrymaking, is thronged with a mid-season crowd of sojourners. There Is something going on every minute of every day to bring pleasure to the summer residents.

The lake Is the chief source of amusement, of course, and most of the town's regular pleasures are centered there and at the Casino run In conjunction with the lake. Dances are a daily feature at the Casino and there are crowdB present at every affair. The recent masquerade was the event of the season. Fully four hundred patrons from the various houses of the surrounding territory, and the crowd was bo great that dancing was at times almost impossible. Numerous gorgeous costumes were worn by the participants in the masque and the judges had a difficult time awarding the prizes.

First prize finally was given to Miss Frances Mierswa, stopping at the Roosa Cottage. Miss Mierswa was costumed as Martha Washington. Mr. William Collins of the same house, garbed as the straw man, won a prize for grotesque costume. Spending their honeymoon at Locn Sheldrake are MrT and Mrs.

Walter Carroll of New York, two popular leaders In the social life of the metropolis. Mrs. Carroll was, until recently, MIbs May Bergan. The Maple Grove House has an undefeated team of baseball Dlavers. The team has al ready played seven games and with the best teams In the vicinity.

belmabTquests. Some Women Are Cracks on the Bowling Alleys. Belmar, N. July 27 A.t the Belmar Club a regular programme of amusements, having something for every day and evening of the week has been In progress. Monday night there was a meeting of the women's bowling club.

The scoring was remarkably high. Among the women who made the best scores were J. Butler, Mrs. Alfred Kane and Mrs. George W.

Throck. The men'sM bowling tournament came on Thursday night. The club now haa a five-man team which issues a challenge to amateur teams of the neighboring watering places along the coast. Elmer Cain Is chairman of the tournament committee and Is seeking engagements with other teams along the shore. Last evening was given over to the weekly club whist, strictly for members and their guests.

At the Belmar Cluh a sacred concert Is planned for to-morrow evening. Mrs. Catherine Peplow Fritz, a club guest, will render a number of soprano solos, and other muelc will be furnished by Harry J. Stout, baritone. Next Tuesday evening there will be a children's cobweb party.

In charge of the Junior Entertainment Committee. A big euchre party entertained guests of the Carleton a few days ago. and among those participating were Miss Olive Wheeler, Miss Annie Appleget. Mr. and Mrs.

Charles Piatt. Mias Agnes Lynch, Miss Jennie Lynch. Mrs. Charles Miller, Misa Effle Hagerman and Miss Alice Shumann. A number of Brooklyn people are stopping at the Hotol Colorado, where among the feature of the entertainments are the parlor concerts given by a clever trio of musicians.
