Dear TJoys and Girls Do you know how to tie different kinds of knots? Buttons and I didn't know how to make any knot except the simple one that everybody knows, but there are ninny varieties that people use In different trades. Sailors, for Instance, have lots of kinds of knots that they use, because they have so much to do with ropes, and gome of the knots they have are vi ry hard to Vnake.

Buttons and I met a sailor the other day he's the big brother of one of the boys In our school and he showed us some new knots that aren't so very hard I He called the loop part of a knot the that Is, the part that is bent round. In tielng a knot In a alngle rope the part held in the left hand is called the "standing part." The first knot he showed us is the knot." It Is made by pnsslng the end of the rope over standing part and then up ihrough the hitrht. Sketch No. 1 shows how he did It, before he pulled the knot tight. The "figure of eight" tNo.

Maybe you boys and girls can make these knots, too. They are not really hard and they are line knots to know how to make because thev don't slip easily. Tomorrow Buttons, will tell you why smuite goi-o up a chimney. FATTY. OUT VWHATS RUIMIMG 7 thb Boss business 1 INTERUPTlON FROM EOiTORlAL DEPT.

"A combination of scientific intelligence with religious faith should be a nurse's Father Schreiner told graduates, "forif it Is not within her power to save a patient's body, sho may save his soul." A nurse should keep abreast of the times in science, lest she Jeopardize human life, he said, and added that the Catholic Church, far from being an enemy of science, was really the place where modern science originated. Father Schreiner then pointed out that Nazarene nurses, as they study but four months, are not qualified to be registered nurses and are not meant to take the place of registered nurses. They are intended to minister to the sick who cannot have a graduate nurse and thus fili a unique position In relieving human suffering, he said. Kniplia.Hl.pw Religion. Dr.

He declared that the profession of nursing Is not new, but dates back to the Thirteenth Century when St. Vincent de Paul organized his Sisters of Charity. Dr. Nevlns read the Ideal which St.

Vincent de Paul set before his nurses and urged that the Nazarene nurses live up to it.
