McSorley of 19 Hampton Place, an executive of the International Harvester Company, will return to New York tomorrow on the Swedish-American liner Gripsholm. He is returning from Philippine Islands, via Europe, and will be here for six months. In December he will return to Manila. Mr. McSorley telephoned to his mother, Mrs.

Emma C. McSorley of the same address, on Mother's Day, from Manila. It was the first telephone call to be made from there to Brooklyn. James T. Kelly of 59 Wyckoff who is on the legal staff of the Corporation Counsel's office, tax division, of the New York office, sailed on the French liner Champlain recently for a month's trip to Lourdes and Rome, Mr.

Kelly will return on the French liner Ile de France late in August. MISS WELLS HONORED Miss Louise Estelle Wells was honored at a birthday party at the home of her grandparents in Flatbush recently. McNAMARA-AHFELDT Miss Ruth Ahlfeldt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

Daniel Ahlfeldt of 336 St. John's Place, was married yesterday to James McNamara, son of John McNamara of 58 Henry Jersey City, and the late Mrs. McNamara. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Ivar Person in the Immanuel Methodist Episcopal Church.

Dean St. Miss Ahlfeldt had as her only attendant, Miss Barbara Acker of Ossining, N. Y. Frank McCarthy was best man for Mr. McNamara.

The bride attended William and Mary College in Virginia. Mr. McNamara was graduated from Savage and is the football coach at Manual Training High School. After a wedding trip to Canada the young couple will reside in Brooklyn. ARDENS are still the principal 7 Island.

Personality Mrs. Isabel Rhees Kappeyne "Everything comes to him who waits, provided that he works while he waits." That is the philosophy of Mrs. Isabel Rhees Kappeyne, lawyer, author and public speaker, who was recently elected corresponding secretary of the New York City Federation of Women's Clubs. Decorations by royalty, dinners with kings, queens and princesses, thrilling trips to Spain, Serbia and other European countries, and numerous other exciting adventures have come to Mrs.

Kappeyne, who, following her own philosophy, worked while she waited. Mrs. Kappeyne is the former Miss Isabel Rhees, daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. William Henry Rhees.

Dr. Rhees was born over 100 years ago in Manhattan, and established his practice in Brooklyn, where his children were born. Educated in the public schools and in the New York State Normal School, Mrs. Kappeyne studied law at New York University after she had married and had become the mother of two children. For 20 years she practiced as a criminal lawyer.

Mrs. Kappeyne has earned her prominence as a club woman. She was co-founder of the Shakespeare Club of Brooklyn, founded in 1900, and still in existence, and founded the Chaucer Club, which lasted for about 10 years. The Pensa Literary Club, of which she was a member, was only recently disbanded. She joined the Federation of Women's Clubs when its founder and first president, Mme.

Belle de Rivera, was still in office. At present Mrs. Kappeyne is a member of the League of A American Pen Women, the Woman Lawyers Association and the National Republican Club. Politics, literature, radio, welfare Clark, president of Community Councils of the City of New York. AT LAKE OWASSA Mr.

Reginald Pratt, Sealy Drive, will be hostess at A garden party Wednesday afternoon to some 75 members of the Long Island District of ParentTeacher Associations who were delegates to State conventions or who attended Cornell Institute since the organization of the district. Mrs. Mirabeau Townes of White Plains spoke on floral arrangements. work and Girl Scouts are among the widely varied interests of this extremely interesting and versatile woman. She has written four books, and is at present the coeditor of the "Woman Republican." She has broadcasted talks on legal topics of interest to women.

During the campaign for woman suffrage she was a lobbyist in Washington, and later worked with Janet Rankin, who was the first woman member of the House of Representatives. In 1931 Mrs. Kappeyne was decorated by King Alexander of Jugo-Slavia for having sent two Serbian boys through Syracuse University as a part of the program of the International Serbian Educational Commission. As regional director, and national representative of the Onondaga Girl Scouts, she worked with Mrs. Herbert Hoover, who was then president of the Girl Scouts.

Kappeyne has two collections which she is both proud and tond." One is a collection of little pitchers which she has gathered from all over the world and the other a collection of autographed books written by her friends. She is very fond of opera and has a preference for Wagner's music. Chaucer and Shakespeare are her favorite authors. She speaks with a charm and a frankness which transports her listeners to the countries of which she speaks, or brings them face to face with the people she talks about.
