The title role, that of Carl XII. Is assumed by Gosta Ekman, who Is prominent on Sweden's stage and screen.

It Is understood, nre entirely In Swedish but the picture is mado none the less effective for English-reading moviegoers by the continuity of the action and the clear interpretations on th part of the players. Keaton's "gags" appear to be spontaneous and perfectly timed, while as much cannot be said for Harold Lloyd in "The Kid linither," ut the Klalto. There is rhyme and reason to Muster's nonsense, as no one would deny if. indeed, time could be found for denial between the hysterical outbursts ut the Capitol.

If criticism could be made of "The Cieneral'' it would be nolely on the ground of Its brevity. One discovers that this hilarious narrative comes to an end all too soon. But, then, if It is true that brevity is the soul of wit, "The General" Is in the nature of being the soulmate of comedy. The courteous ushers In the Capilol. I think, would- not dispossess him who would dare to stay and see It twice.

It Is said that "The General" has cost Mr. Keaton in the neighborhood of half million dollars, but It Is this humble reviewer's opinion thut It was worth all It cost and more. Appearing in Buster support a highly competent cast, including Clenn Cavender. Jim Farley, Marian Mack and Frederick V'room. John Howard Lawson, Km Jo Rasshe, Francis Kd wards Farnjroh.

The Mansfield Theater will celebrate its first anniversary tonight when Mrs. Patrick Campbell opens at that playhouse in Frederick Witney's farcical comedy. "The Adventurous Age." To further celebrate the occasion, the first throe rows of seats have been removed to permit the installation of an orchestra, which will play between the acts of Mrs. Campbell's new comedy. The musical comedy has steadily increased in business since its opening on Nov. 8, an.1 established new high records for itself during last week. The revival of "The Night Hawk," celebrates Its 60th performance tonight.
