SOCIETY Miss Ethel V. Shelton Married John Joseph McDermott; Announcement Just Made. and Mrs. Frederic P. Shelton of 78 Prospect Park West announce the marriage of their daughter, Miss Ethel Virginia Shelton to John Joseph McDermott, son of Mr.

and Mrs. Patrick T. McDermott of this city. The marriage took place on May 3 in Greenwich, by William S. M.

Fiske. of the peace of Fairfield colustice St. Xavier's Church, 6th st. and 8th will be the scene of another ceremony shortly, when they will be married according to the rites of the Catholic Church. Mr.

and Mrs. John F. Talmage and Miss Louise Talmage of 104 Pierrepont st. returned on the White Star liner Olympic on Tuesday night from Europe. Mr.

and Mrs. John D. Reals (Anna Lohman) will motor te het Springs, this week, to remain for several weeks. Mrs. John D.

Lohman will join them later. Mr. and Mrs. Wentworth John Marshall (Dorothy L. Koerner) have just returned from an extended trip through Canada and Nova Scotia.

They were joined at Christmas Cove, for six weeks by Mrs. Marshall's parents, Dr. and Mrs. William Frederick Koerner of 312 Jefferson aver Mr. and Mrs.

Marshall will go to Cleveland, Ohio, shortly, where they will make their home, and will be visited by and Mrs. Koerner during September. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson S.

Graessle and her daughter, Miss Florence Graessle, 611 McDonough and Frederick Sticht will motor to Roscoe, N. this week and will stop at Lakewood Farm Inn for the remainder of the summer. Battle of L. I. Luncheon To Be Given at University Club.

A luncheon will be given at the University Club: of Brooklyn on Saturday, Aug. 28, at 12:30 o'clock. will be served at the clubhouse as part of the celebration of the 150th anniversary Battle of Long Island. The Kings County Historical Society has selected the clubhouse n8 the appropriate place for the scene of the luncheon for members of the citizens' committee, speakers, representatives of the Army and Navy and others who will later go. Brooklyn Women Assist At Benefit at Lee, Mass. Greenock Lee, was the scene last week of a very successful children's fair and bridge given for the benefit of the Tribune Fresh Air Fund. A large sum of money was raised for the worthy cause. Mrs. Henry Opitz, Miss Adele Todd of Manhattan, Miss Cornehlsen and Mrs.

William T. Heeran of Brooklyn and Mrs. James McWilliams of Paterson, N. were included on the committee in charge. Several Adelphi and Packer girls assisted the committee, among them the Misses Doris and Anna Cornehlsen, Marie Eitelback and Martha Condermann.

The Misses Florence Arlene Thornton and Jennette R. Warburton left on Tuesday for Philadelphia, where they expect to teach physical training under the new. Pennsylvania law. A trail and a taxi driver were responsible for the arrest of three men early today. The men are George Kunze, 138 Noble Alfred Benson, 20, of 227 Calyer st. and Thomas Reilly, 21, of 46 Meserole ave. Early this morning the men went to the apartment of George Kocsis at 112 Huron st.

It was later discovered that they had entered the house by mistake, but at the time, they said, they did not know it. When were refused admittance they proceeded to break down the door and Reilly cut his hand on the glass panel. When the men discovered their error they fled. Kocsis dressed and started in pursuit. He was able to follow the men by drops of blood on the sidewalk until the trail vanished at Greenpoint and Manhattan aves.

Here a taxi driver asked him what the difficulty was. Kocsis told him he was trying to find three men, one of whom had a cut hand. The driver said he had just taken three men to the Greenpoint Hospital and that one. of them had a cut hand. Kocsis got a policeman and the three men were soon under arrest charged with disorderly conduct.
