At the same time the records show the amount of stock In brokerage houses has been sharply reduced.

The great Increase is attributed to the fact that the stock has been spilt up and it is within the price range of more Investors. One of Wall Street's best-known market mentors and Investment advisers to predicting a reaction that will bring about a 25 percent decline in prices. He expects it to happpn some time before Labor Day, which, of course, gives him plenty of time to make good. The break may come at any time, he declares, because wealthy holders have been liquidating, and much of the buying has been of the weak margin type, Warning? Rov Young, Governor of the Federal Reserve Board.

For once Wall Street did not heed Mr. Mellon's advice. Instead of buy-Ing bonds, most of the security buy-ers went Into the stock market today with both feet.

Not Collateral. Many people who would ordinarily buy a bond or two say that the banks won't take them as collateral and they would therefore rather keep the money in a brokerage account. Dog history is filled with similar stories of the highly trained, four-footed thief that combined the skill of the human robber with the cunning of a pilfering animal.

Particularly common were these anecdotes in Germany, where the dog thief reached a high degree of training and intelligence in his 1 enforced field of operations, not a few of them supporting entire families by their robberies. One breed of dog, practically extinct now, was raised solely for poaching game on English preserves, says Dr. Hugh F. Dailey, chief veterinarian at the Angell Memorial Hospital, Boston. The breed was known as the "poucher," pictures of which are to be found In old English books on dogs.

This dog was a cross between the greyhound and the spaniel, Inheriting the speed from the former and the ability to scent down game from the latter. Most dogs give tongue when on the trail of a rabbit or fox, their, loud braying notes being the signal to the hunter to follow along. But the "poucher" had been trained not to bark, so that he could go about his operations of stealing for his master. Not even a little yip of Joy would escape him when he discovered a scent, for his was not a sport, but a dangerous profession. Once he had the game he would retrieve it to his master, awaiting him at a safe distance from the preserve.

Otto Koch, so canine legend has 'X, owned a pup, a crass between a wolice dog and a schnauzer. who kept him and his family of five in -ororjarative ease In a little village near Munich. The dog, so the story goes, kept the family in the choicest of meats from the butcher shop and robbed the solitary travelers and llgrims along the road, either unarmed or so surprised at the attack the four-footed highwayman iat they had not time to draw their weapons out. 8 2 4 3 1 3 6 36 3ft- 94 92 91 20 20 4 4 12 11 6 6 59 58 Whit Eagle Whit Motor White Rock White Sew M.
