Businessman's 'Tune' Heard as Symphony Berlin Philharmonic Plays 'Oriental Picked Out on Guitar by William H. Woodin to Amuse Himself at Close of Busy Days What a business executive end of busy days was heard when the Philharmonic Suite." The composer is William H. Woodin, president of the American Car and Foundry Company, director of the Federal Rererve Bank of New York, chairman of the board of the American Locomotive Company, and holder of at least a dozen other executive posts that can't be associated with melody.

Woodin acknowledged yesterday that some excitement stirs within him about the Berlin honor. He doesn't call himself a composer, but says he is a "melodist." He has been a "melodist" all his life. Some 56 years ago, when he was a lad of seven in Berwick, his parents stopped his piano lessons because the teachers complained that he wouldn't play the pieces assigned to him. He would pick out melodies of his own. Lack of training didn't dampen his ardor for music, however, and while he was rising up from district manager of the car company he found time to toy with various musical instruments.

"Oriental Suite" is in five parts. It represents musical impressions which Woodin picked up when he was a young man working in the Orient, according to the Associated Press. Mrs. Willman Dies At 76; Cardinal Mundelein's Aunt Mrs. Magdalena Willman.
