Brosnan of Poplar St.

station, famous for the long list of murderers he captured, who died of pneumonia last Friday. The funeral was held in Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, Church and Rogers beginning at 11 a.m. Father Lawrence Bracken, chaplain of the police department, celebrated a solemn requiem mass, assisted by Father John Dooley and Father Maurice Rochford. Leading the group of detectives present were Assistant Chief Inspector John J. Sullivan, Brosnan's lifelong friend and his partner in the old Poplar Street station team of Brosnan and Sullivan in many spectacular arrests; Deputy Chief Inspector Vincent J.

Sweeney and District Attorney Geoghan. A police Department band paraded to and from the church and a guard of honor was also supplied "by the Police Department. Brosnan was one of the best-loved and widely known men in the department, and men and women from all walks of life in the borough showed by their presence a at the funeral their sense of personal loss in his passing. Detective Brosnan, born in 1877, had a record of having captured 38 murderers in 20 years in the department. MarthaM'Laughlin Ex-Principal of P.

S. 71. Is Dead Miss Martha S. McLaughlin, 74, formerly for 30 years principal of Public School 71, Heyward near Lee died yesterday at her home, 27 Grandview White Plains, N. after a protracted illness.

In all, Miss McLaughlin had been a teacher for 52 years in the public schools of Brooklyn. Her entire career was confined to two schools. She spent 22 years in Public School 33 prior to being appointed to 71. Miss McLaughlin WAS born In Philadelphia and resided in Brooklyn the greater, part of her life. She went White Plains live two years prior to her retirement, which took place on Feb.

1, 1926. Her illness followed a fracture of the hip she suffered in a fall last Summer. Funeral services will be held at the 'home at 8:30 p.m. tomorrow. Interment will be private.

Miss McLaughlin was formerly a member of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce. Mrs. C. B. Zabriskie Mrs.

Margaret Louise Zabriskie, 65, wife of Christian B. Zabriskie, vice president and general manager of the Twenty Mule Team Borax Company and vice president and treasurer of the Tonopah and Tidewater Railroad, died Saturday morning at her home in Belle Services were to be held at 2 o'clock today from the home. Louis Selig Mrs. Mollie Selig, 58, of 1497 Carroll who was. in Jewish charitable work here for many years, died Saturday night in the Coney Island Hospital, where she was removed suffering from a cerebral hemorrhage. She was born in Cincinnati and resided in Brooklyn for 37 years. She was a member of the Loving Circle of Sisters and Grace Aguila Lodge, 21, of the United and True Sisters.

Schiff, philanthropist and banker and mother of the late Mortimer L.

Schiff, who died yesterday of cerebral thrombosis at her home, 965 5th Manhattan, will ba held privately at her city home at 10 a.m. tomorrow. Burial will be in Salem Fields Cemetery. In collaboration with her husband and individually, Mrs. Schiff was a constant contributor to charities of all kinds.

She and Mr. several million dollars to hospitals, East Side settlement organizations, universites, seminaries, libraries, the Red Cross, religious organizations and Jewish enterprises. Her largest single charity since the death of her husband in 1921 was the donation $300,000 co in his memory to the Henry Street Settlement. Is Dead Special to The Eagle Freeport, Feb. 26-Frederick Figge, long associated with the meat packing and provision industry and a member of the New York Produce Exchange since 1878, died yesterday of arteriosclerosis in his home, 323 W. Merrick Road. He was 82. Several months ago Mr.

Figge suffered a heart attack while ing for a train at the Long Island Railroad station here. He never recovered. Born in Germany, Mr. Figge came to the United States as a young man and founded a pork packing establishment in New York City. He later headed the Figge Real Estate Company, which developed the western part of Hempstead.

Widely Known 'Besides being president of the wholesale provision firm of Figge Hutwelker, he interested himself in real estate in Brooklyn and Man. hattan. Mr. Figge was known widely on the south shore and until several years ago held fast to his horse and buggy as a means of transportation within the village. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:30 p.m.

A tribute was paid to Mr. Messenger's memory from the Bench by Municipal Justice John J. Haggerty when word of his death reached the court today. James A. Turley New Rochelle, N.

Feb. 27- James A. Turley, director of Public Safety of this city, having jurisdiction over the police and fire departments, died at his home, 159 Woodland last night, of a heart attack. Despite the fact that he had been seriously ill for about four months, Mr. Turley carried on the business of the police and fire departments from his bed, on one occasion conducting a hearing in the case of a detective charged with having shot and killed a man, accidentally.

Mr. Turley was born at Waterbury, Jan. 21, 1884. was graduated from a law school and went to live in New York City. Fourteen years ago he was defeated for Municipal Court Justice in New York City, running as an independent candidate against Tammany.

Shortly after that he removed to this city and twice was an unsuccessful Democratic candidate for Mayor here. One year ago, when the city manager form of government was established here, he was made director of public safety. He is survived by his wife and their children. Until successor is named four, Mayor Walter G. C.
