Herman G. Wotherspoon, Co, D. 104th has been severely wounded, but a' letter received recently, by his, brother, George Wotherspoon 25th Elmhurst, L. states that the young man has left the hospital. Lt Wotherspoon is 35 1 years old.

He is married. Lt. Wotherspoon was formerly a quartermaster sergeant in the old Seventh Regt. After the to U'nited States declared war on Germany Lt. Wotherspoon entered the Officers Training School at Spartanburg, 8.

Charles K. Kiester. Corp. Charles K. Kiester of 276 Front Hempstead, L.

has been killed. according to a letter from John Reimer Jr. 10 Kiesler's parents. said that he SEL Kiesler's name on a casualty list in France and he was. listed as "killed in action." Joseph Kiesler, the soldier's father, had received notice from the War Department that his son had been missing in action since August 26.

No letter been received from him in that time. P'st. John T. Ritzer. Put.

John T. Ritzer, 24 years old. of Glen Cove, L. died in France of pneumonia on November 8. He was the son of the late Mr.

and Mrs. Charles Ritzer of Brooklyn. He went overseas in May, following his enlistment in the old Seventh Regt. During his residence in Glen Cove he was connected with the Pratt estate. He leaves a brother.

Frederick, of Brooklyn, and two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Pitman of Glen Cove and Mrs. I. Kannard of Brooklyn. Prt.

Budd Russell Pyt. Budd Russell Somers of 677 Decatur st. was killed in action on October 12. He was one of the first contingent to be called to Camp Upton. He was transferred later to Camp SUDD R.

SOMERS 79 Saviour. Pvt. James A. Brady. Gordon and sailed for France early this year.

Pvt. Somers was married Miss Daisy E. Saxby of Brooklyn. He was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs.

Eli Somers of Warren, and his brother, Holmes Somers, is also in service in France. He was 28 years old. Pvt. Andrew W. Rolff.

Pyt. Andrew W. Rolff, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles J.

Rolff of 370 Chauncey died of pneumonia at Scottish Red Cross Hospital in France on October 27. While on the firing line he contracted influenza which later developed into pneumonia. His mother received a letter from the matron of the hospital, Margaret S. Riddell, in which she stated that Pvt. Rolff was in a critical conwhen he was admitted to the hospital, but that everything possible was being done for him.

The following day she received another letter in which the matron stated that he had passed away and had been buried with full military honors. She also sent the number and location of his grave and assured his mother that would be possible to locate it at any time. On September 3 Private Rolff was gassed, and after spending about six weeks in a hospital with one his sergeants, who was also wounded, they returned to their command. The last letter received from Pvt. Rolff was written on October 19.

In he told his mother that he was feeling fine and dandy and that if they kept on getting the Huns as they were doing, why we'd soon have the whole German Army. He enlisted in Troop 1st Cavalry, and was transferred Co. of the 105th M. G. at Spartanburg.

S. C. He sailed for France in May. Pyt. Rolff was graduate of P.

S. 73 and Brooklyn Evening High School, and a member the English Lutheran Church of Our Pvt. James A. Brady of 517 St. Mark's ave.

was killed in action on October 28. Drafted on October 10. 1917, he was assigned to Batt. B. 304th F.

at Camp Upton, and sailed for France in April. Pvt. Brady was educated at St. Teresa's School, and before his induction into service was an agent for the Evening Sun and Telegram. Pvt.

Brady formerly lived at 1237 Fulton st. with his mother. Catherine two sisters, Rose and Mary, two brothers, Hugh and Sgt. John J. P.

Brady of Co. E. 68th now at Camp Sheridan, Ala. Since the report came his mother and several friends have received letters dated October 28, all written in a cheerful vein. Some contain funny incidents of his life in France.

He was born in Brooklyn on December 2, 1893. Pit. Albert A. Klaiber. Pvt.

Albert A. Klaiber of Co. 106th A was killed in action on July 31. His parents, Robert and Caroline Klaiber of 31 Frankfort received a letter of condolence from the first lieutenant of Pvt. Klaiber's company, which read in part: "The facts concerning Albert can be explained as follows: I was in command of two platoons of Co.

when we went up to the line to take over some British machine- gun positions. During the time we were there a couple nof raids took place and Mount Kemmel was taken by our division. On the night of July 31. about 9:30 p.m., we were hit quite hadly and your son was one of the unfortunates. I was right near him on the road when our men were hit, and I assure you he Was given the best possible care untier the conditions.

I had his body removed to the rear and he was buried Remy Siding, near Abelle, which was just. across the line from Bel- Pyt. Klaiber enlisted soon after war declared. and was transferred TOLD the First Cavalry to the 106th G. B.

He was a graduate of P. 8. No. 10 and Manual Training H. Where he distinguished himself as an athlete, having 1 been captain of the Lacrosse and hockey teams and a football player.

He also belonged to the Omega Gamma Delta fraternity. Pet. Klaiber was born on April 17, 1898. Pvt. Joseph A.

Riordan, old. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Thaddeus Riordan, formerly of 910 Ave now of 135 Prospect Park South, killed in action on September He was a member of Co. M.

and had been in France May. Pyt, Riordan joined the Regt. in 1917 and he was sent State to guard the aqueduct prior going to Spartanburg, where he transferred to the 106th. He 149 Brooklyn-L. I.

S. No. 10. While at Brooklyn tory School he felt called upon to serve the country, and enlisted before completing his course. His family received their last letter from him 011 September 24.

A memorial mass will be celebrated for him Wednesday at St. Saviour's R. C. Church. Sgt.

Arthur Wolfe. Sgt. Arthur Wolfe, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Wolfe of Glen Cove, died of pneumonia on November 8.

He was born in Lee, twentyeight years ago. He was a member of Co. 407th Telephone Batt. of the Signal Corps. Sgt.

Wolfe enlisted soon after war was declared and trained at Camp Vail, Little Silver, N. J. He went overseas in August, 1917. The battalion figured in some very vital work and was commended for its important and gallant work by Gen. Russell.

Sgt. Wolfe was in the employ of the New York Telephone Company in Glen Cove. He was a charter member of James Norton Council, K. of and a member of St. Patrick's R.

C. Church. He leaves his parents, three sisters, Margaret, and Louise, and five brothers, Lawrence, Joseph and Pvt. William Wolfe. Prt.

Daniel McCauley. Prt. Daniel McCauley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael McCauley of Glen Head, L.

was killed in action 0n1 October 26. Pvt. McCauley was 26 years old and went to Camp Upton in September, 1917, with the first contingent to leave Glen Cove. He overseas with the 306th Inf. Headquarters Co.

On October 21 he wrote' about coming out of the trenches after seven days frightful fighting. He leaves his parents, three sisters and three brothers. Pvt. Edward A. Harley.

Pvt. Edward A. Harley, reported a3 missing in action on September 16. is recovering from wounds in a hospital in France. He is a a member of Cu.

H. 315th Inf. In recent letter to his sister, Mrs. Winifred McMahon, of 724 Classon he told how he was wounded. Pvt.

Harley was employed as a 'longshoreman when he was inducted into the army. He is 25 years old. received part of his education at Cathedral School in Philadelphia, fin ishing it in this city at St. Joseph's parochial school. He is a member of St.

Teresa's R. C. Church. Put. Walter J.

Noonan. up- Pvt. Walter J. Noonan, 21 years old, to of 1657 60th was killed in action was on September 27. He joined Co.

vailed 23d In 1910, and went to the started overseas last Good Friday with Co. 302d Engs. In his last letter he wrote: "I was shot in the left heel with a machine gun and for two months was in a hospital. Before I was shot I figured in some exciting engagements with the enemy, and you can believe every word when say that the American boys acquitted themselves nobly. None of us knew danger after we were over the top and I was the second man of the company to be shot.

Besides killing Germans we captured a lot of them. Knowing the German language I had a good chance to talk with many of them while they were same hospital with me. These poor fellows, some of whom were like boys, told us that the Germans had lost nearly all their infanall they had left was some artillery. The morale of the Germans is entirely gone and you should have seen how happy they were to be taken prisoners and get something to cat." Sgt. Michael Saggese.

Shot in both legs, Sgt. Michael Saggese of 187 Bay 20th a member of Co. 107th expects to have to remain at Base Hospital 29 in Tottenham, England, for the next few months. Sgt. Saggese enlisted a year and a half ago with the 55th and was sent to Chattanooga, to train with the Regular Army.

When Camp Dix was opened he was sent there to instruct Co. I. 310th in some phase of ordnance technique, and before his departure for France was MICHAEL SAGGESE transferred and promoted to rank of sergeant. In the St. Quentin-Cambrai drive he was severely wounded.

Sgt. Saggese was born in Italy 27 years ago. In Brooklyn he lived with his sister, Mrs. R. DeNicola, and was in the undertaking business.

He belonged to many Italian organizations and attended the Y. M. C. A. School.

He 1S also a Mason. Corp. Charles J. Tiernan. Corp.

Charles J. Tiernan, 26 years old. of 324 89th a member of Co. 106th was gassed on September 28. He enlisted in the 14th Regt.

in July, 1917, and was sent to Spartanburg, S. where he was transferred 'to the 106th Inf. He left for France 011 May 10. was born in County Leitrim, Ireland. and was educated in the Tullencross National School.

Pvt. Tiernan attended St. Patrick's R. C. Church and was employed by Arbuckle Bros.

Put. Edwin Lewis. Pvt. Edwin Lewis, son of Mrs. Delphin Lewis.

of 75 Franklin Hempstead, L. was wounded either late in September or early in October. according to a. letter received by the young man's mother. The letter was written by 2.

comrade from a base hospital in France. It was dated November 4. Pvt. Lewis is a member of Co. I.

127th Inf. He waS sent to Camp Upton last April, and later went Camp Devens, from where he "started for overseas. P'vt. Lewis is 28 years old, and the son of a veteran of the Civil War. Corp.

Richard W. Matthews. Corp. Richard W. Matthews, son of Mr.

and Mrs. Charles S. Matthews, of Bennett Hempstead, L. was wounded in action on August 17. He was wounded previously on June 4.

Corp. Matthews is the first Hempstead boy to earn his second wound stripe. Ho is a member of the 308th Inf. Corp. Corp.

Matthews has written to his mother several times from A base hospital, but he never mentioned his injury. Before being drafted, Corp. Matthews was a conductor on the L. I. R.

R. Put. Harry C. Johnson. Pyt.

Harry C. Johnson, 26 years old, of the 106th Inf. died of pneumonia on November 11 in the First American General Hospital, Rouen, France. He was a son of Mrs. Amelia Johnson of South Glen Cove.

L. I. Pvt. Johnson enlisted in April and had been in France several months. He had been over the top four times unscathed, but contracted influenza which developed into pneumonia.

He was formerly employed at the E. R. Ladew. plant. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

Johnson leaves his mother and five brothers, Albert, Robert. Edward, James and Louis, of Glen Cove. Sgt. James Finn. Sgt.

James Finn, son of Mr. and Mra. P. Finn, of 339 Herkimer has been severely wounded in the left shoulder, and is now treatment in A Base Hospital in England. Sgt.

Finn joined the 23d Regt. at the outbreak of the war. He received his training at Spartanburg and was there transferred to the 106th Inf. On May 10 he sailed for France aboard the President Lincoln. 1 He has two other brothers in the service.

Prt. Frank Miller. According to a letter received by his wife Pvt. Frank Miller, 20 years old, of 239 15th st, was wounded in action on October 20. He is now recovering in Southern General Hospital 5.

Pvt. Miller enlisted in the 14th Regt. at the outbreak of the war and was sent to Camp Wadsworth, where he was assigned to Co. D. 106th Inf.

He left for France on May 10. Pit. Thomas Digorto. Pyt. Thomas Digorto of 124' Ridge Astoria, died or disease in France.

He was drafted last April 27. Five weeks later he was in France. Prior to his illness he had been in the hospital for treatment for slight wounds. He was a chauffeur Private George W. Stromberg.

Pyt. George W. Stromberg of 86 Vandeventer Long Island City, is missing in action. In November, 1917, he enlisted and within a month was OIl his way to France with Co. 109th Inf.

Put. John D' Vashio, P'yt. John D' Vashio of Myrtle a member of Co. 305th was gassed 011 August 1. When called in the frat draft he was employed as a tailor.

He is 110 in a hospital. Pyt. D' Vashio was born and educated in Italy. He is a member of St. Patrick's It.

C. Church. Pet. Donald M. Milligan.

L'vt. Donald M. Milligan of 145 Pros- pect Park West, member of Co. G. 316th has been reported missing.

He WaS sent to Camp Unton and transferred to camp Mende, from where he left for France on July 5. P'yt. Millimin 1s native of Brooklyn. Prior to his induction into the service he was clerk in the cashier's department of the Commercial Union Insurance Company of 55 John Manhattan. Its 18 26 years old.

Corp. John F. Hughes, James V. Hughes of 429 73d st. has received that his son, Corp.

John F. Hughes, was severely wounded in action. Corp. Hughes left for France in March with Co. 306th Inf.

Before entering the service he was employed by the American Bank Note and Printing Company. On November 4 he wrote to his father, making light of his wounds, stating that he was anxious to get back on the firing line. Young Hughes was born and brought up in the Sixth Ward. Pvt. Harry Sachse.

Pvt. Harry Sachse of Belle Harbor, L. reported as wounded severely, was struck on the left arm by shrapnel and suffered from shell shock on July 15. He left the hospital on August 1. and rejoined the 106th M.

G. B. Pvt. Sachse is 20 years old. He enlisted in the First Cavalry in 1916, and went to the Mexican border.

Upon returning home his regiment was sent to Spartanburg, S. where it was merged with the 106th and he was I assigned to the Machine Gun Battalion. He sailed for France last May with the 27th Div. Pvt. Sachse made his home with his aunt, Mrs.

M. A. Dolan. at Newport ave. and Beach 130th Belle Harbor.

Pvt. Edward J. Lynch. Pvt. Edward J.

Lynch, son of Edward and Grace Lynch, of 760 Franklin has been located through the Red Cross and is known to be a prisoner in a hospital at Cologne. On September 9 he wrote that he had been wounded, and in his last letter, dated September 19, he stated that he was on his way back to the front. From that time no word was heard from him. Pvt. Lynch was a member of Co.

106th Inf. He enlisted in the 23d went to Spartanburg, and left for France in May aboard the President Lincoln. He was born in Brooklyn and attended the Nativity Parochial School. Prior to his entry into the Army he was employed by the National Lead Works. He is 22 years old.

Pvt. Walter T. Loughran. Pvt. Walter T.

Loughran was gassed in October and is under treatment at the Beaufort War Hospital at Fishponds, Bristol, England. He is a member of Co. 106th and has been in France since May, having WALTER T. LOUGHRAN! sailed aboard the President Lincoln from Newport News, Va. He is 19 years old and a graduate of St.

Augustine's Academy. His grand. father is Thomas Seward of 508 17th st. Pvt. Arthur Stadtmiller.

Ho has informed his parents that he was in the hospital from September 27 until the latter part of October, when he was sent to a rest camp.

Frank Smith. Pvt. Frank Smith, who was wounded slightly on September 1, is a member of Co, 125th Inf. He was drafted in November, 1917, and at Camp Upton was assigned to Co. 306th Inf.

His regiment reached France the latter nart of June, and shortly afterward he was transferred to his present regiment. In a letter to his sister, Mrs. Peter Kraft, with whom he lived at 368 Dill place, Ridgewood. he said: "After doing four days and nights of sniping duty without a let-up I was just ready to be relieved when I was struck by an enemy machine gun bullet in the right leg below the knee. I are all right now and feel fine." Before he entered the service Pvt.
