The more general se of morphine in the treatment of obstetrical cases by physicians was strongly urged last night by Ir. John Osborn I'olak, one of the foremost obstetricians in the country, in an address to the members of the Medical Society of Bay P.idge. Dr. Charles W. Berry, president of the society, presided at the meeting, which was held at the itth A.

V. Republican Club. 317 Ovington ave. Dr. I'olak delivered an interesting address In which he discussed various problems connected with the particular branch of the medical profession which he has made his life work and 1n which he has achieved a pre-eminent place.

The discussion was of a technical character. At the of his address, Dr. I-'nlak was asked whether. he advocated the more general use; of morphine by doctors in ordinary cases of chilli birth and he replied that although he did not favor any sort of "twilight sleep" formula, he certainly did believe that the more general employment of morphine would be most advantageous. He declared that its use would not result in bringing morphinized children into the world.

Dr. John 1. McQuillin, chairman of the committee on scientific subjects of the society, urged that an open meeting of the Medical H'iety of Bay ltidge be held to which tho public would licj invited and at which laymen might lie informed of the fallacies associated with "spiritual healing and auto-BUcgestinn." The committee' had offered a resolution calling on the magistrates themselves to hop on tho dais promptly, but Magistrate Edward J. Dooley said it would be unfair, because most of the magistrates are punctual. Kalph K. Jacobs, chtairmun of the committee, told the meeting that since Edward J.

But when the committee sought power to snoop around the police, courts, with a view to keeping an eye on the magistrates, to sen if the magisterial boss is making them work per schedule, Magistrate Dooley again protested, saying it would not be fair to spy on the magistrates, and that he would feel uncomfortable every time a lawyer walked into his courtroom, not knowing whether he was Bar Association spy or some one OH C'OVRT. a contracting builder, of 1 "7 Shepherd Cypress Hills, died Wednesday at his horn.
