John Emile, 540 Park Avenue, Manhattan, July eleventh. Mr. Borne was born in Brooklyn in 1852 and was the son of John E. and Elizabeth Pfaff Borne. Mr.

Borne was chairman of the executive committee of the Trust Company of America and a director in many banks and trust companies. In 1874 he went into the petroleum refining business until absorbed by the Standard I Oil Company, was head of the firm of Borne Scrymser. He was "a member of the Union, Metropolitan, Down Town, Hamilton and Tuxedo His wife, was Miss. NeJlie.M. Lawrence of this borough, survives him.

Doscher Mr. Claus; 215 Hewes Street, July sixth. Mr. Doscher, who was in his eighty-first year, was born, in Germany and came to America when eighteen years of age. He was one of the important sugar refiners of: the Eastern District After his retirement from the sugar -business in 1900 he devoted himself to his extensive real estate interests.

and 25c). Social Notes. MANY Brooklyn people have found their way to the White Mountains this week, where the delightful climate and cool breezes are in marked contrast to the stifling heat of town. The opening "of the Mount Washington Hotel last week Saturday was an interesting event and as usual, the first to register were Mr. and Mrs.

Clarence Seamans of Brooklyn, who came up for the week-end, returning on the Sunday night sleeper. Mr. and Mrs. Seamans dined on Saturday evening with Dr. and Mrs.

J. Blake "White of Madison Avenue, who are located at the Mount Washington for the season after a few days spent at the Mount Pleasant House. Mr. and Mrs. A.

A. Leverich with Lyle and Charles Leverich of Brooklyn are at the Iron Mountain House in Jackson and are playing tennis and golf daily, besides fishing in Wildcat River for trout with good success. Mr. and Mrs. F.

W. Smith of Brooklyn are at same hotel. Mrs. F. M.

Weston of Brooklyn will have her summer headquarters at Maplewood, where Dr. and Mrs. F. D. Bailey of Hancock Street are spending a few weeks.

MR. and Mrs, Bernard Botzen of Bay Ridge, recently announced the engagement of their daughter, Miss Leah A. Botzen, to Mr. Roy C. Kemmerer, at a supper at the Jamaica Bay Yacht Club.

Supper was served in the attractive dining-room of the club-house overlooking the bay and the flowers used as table decorations were arranged very effectively. Gibson souvenirs were given to the guests, who, Miss Botzen and Mr. Kemmerer, were Miss Jessie Kemmerer, Miss Villa Jones; Mr. Herbert M. James; Mr.
