On the general order of the day, nothing of interest wn done until twelve o'clock, when the Speaker announced that the hour had arrived lor the election of a United States Senator in the place of Hon Hamilton Fish. Headley fi. When the II rsi vote was cast for Sir. Sickles. Mr. Clinton rnised a point of order on constitutional objection, and challenged the vote.

The Speaker decided that he bad no right to rofuse tin vote of any member: but in his opinion, tho votes cast fur Daniel E. Sickles were, under the constitution of the State, null and void. Mr. Allen protested against the decision of the chair. The Speaker The chair has made no decision.

Mr. Floyd ones asked and received permission. Messrs. Wakcmau and Clover wore appointed a Committee to inform ihe Senate the House win ready to meet thai body and compare nominations. A Committee, rrom the Senate having made the same announcement to the House, ihe members of the Senate entered the Assembly Chamber, and the journals of both Houses were read when the lYcsident of the Senato announced that Preston King was duly elected United States Senator for six years from Ihe 1th of March next, in place of Hamilton Fish.
